Yi Jiangnan (Jiangnan cuisine / shanghainese / beijing)
Staunton St, Soho
Central
(852) 2136 0886

Lunch and dinner ($120-150 per head)

This is an old favourite of mine that always proves consistently satisfactory. I always end up ordering the same things. Try the crispy mutton and slather on the garlic dip. Order the jade (it’s edible!), admire its pale green shade and savour the crunch and lightness of this dish. The stewed fish with its spicy sauce is perfect with some flower rolls to mop up the leftover gravy. For dessert, there’s the tang yuan (dessert dumplings) with osthmanthus-scented rice wine-infused soup – lovely.
