Shing Mun Country Park

Above: Shing Mun Reservoir in Shing Mun Country Park

Situated in the northwestern part of the New Territories, Shing Mun Country Park spans some 1,400 hectares. The Shing Mun Reservoir is in the midst of it. There are both paved and dirt trails. Also found are a number of picnic areas and BBQ spots (with pits ready for Hong Kong style BBQ, just bring your own food, fire, and fork).

"Shing Mun" means city gate. I like the sign at the entrance to the park (pictured in the photo to the right) - doesn't it look grand? You'll see when you get there!

Above right: one of the residents along the trail. Beware! They get agressive sometimes.

Above right: this may just be the solution to world hunger - flash food.
