International Commerce Centre

Kowloon, Hong Kong

The competition to be the tallest doesn't stop at childhood, it continues into other hoods, like the neiborhood.

Being the tallest building is one of such in Hong Kong, it seems. At the time of writing, the 2 IFC's title has been taken away by the International Commerce Center (ICC). But then who knows how long before it will lose that. Nevertheless, some major corporations have moved in and some other big names have already signed up, including Ritz Carlton hotel. In fact in Hong Kong style of fast-pace and financial shrewdness, the bottom floors are already occupied while the top floors are still being finished. Some people just can't wait! Left: International Commerce Centre.

If you can't wait to book a room in the Ritz-Carlton and get a magnificient view of the Hong Kong Island from across the Victoria Harbor, according to their website, they are taking reservations for arrival dates starting April 1, 2011.

According to the website of the developer, Sun Hung Kai Properties, the 100th floor will be the observation deck. Due to open last quarter of 2010 - which means any day now, I guess - the deck is named Sky100, offering a 360 degree view of the city. I can't wait! (We'll see how much they charge for a visit.)
