The sea lions at Pier 39
of the the Fisherman's Wharf
is one attraction not exactly
planned by the San Francisco Visitor's Bureau. Somehow a number of them
chose San Francisco
as their home and took up residence some years ago.
Other than sleeping, they howl and sun bathe in front of tourists -
actually regardless of whether the latter are there to be the audience or not.

San Francisco, not waiting for a dog and pony show.
But don't expect much more. There won't be any dog and
pony show, but then you don't have to pay any entrance fee either. But if
you would like one, there is often one in the open space inside
Pier 39,
usually put on by people rather than animals.
