Waffles and Eggettes

Above: a line outside an eggette shop on Kam Hong Street near King's Road in North Point waiting to buy one.

Other than egg tarts, another tasty favorite snack are waffles, especially the kind referred to as "little eggs" (a.ka. eggettes, shown in photo). They are widely available steaming hot at street-side snack booths for just a few HK dollars (a dollar or so USD). Hot and crunchy on the outside but nice and soft inside, it is impossible to stop at one egg!

Some vendors' eggettes are so popular that people line up to buy them. One such place is on Kam Hong Street near King's Road in North Point, shown in the photo at the top of this page. Nowadays they even have branches in other areas. One seems to be in Wan Chai next to the Wan Chai Computer Shopping Center. (2009.4.4)
